Chapter 5 - The Startup Folder
Startup Folder - Windows XP Version
Removing Programs from the Startup Folder:
Like every other thing in windows, there are multiple ways of doing something. However, the following is the most direct way of removing programs from the startup folder.
1. Click on the Start menu and then click on Programs. Navigate to the Startup folder.
2. Right click each item in the Startup folder and choose Delete.

3. When you right click an item you will be prompted to confirm the delete. Just click ok.

**It is safe to remove all the items here because, it you need them – just go to their respective icon and open them. Again, you don’t need windows to load all these items for you when you start your computer.
If you are still seeing a lot of programs loading when you start your computer, there is another place you can check to see about getting rid of them. Microsoft provides a tool for editing items that startup when your computer does, its called msconfig. See the msconfig section under Misc Tidbits of this guide for further information.
Congratulations! You are done with this section. Please continue to the next chapter.
