Chapter 5 - The Startup Folder
Startup Folder - Windows Vista Version
Removing Programs from the Startup Folder :
Like every other thing in windows, there are multiple ways of doing something. However, the following is the most direct way of removing programs from the startup folder.
1. Click on the Vista Logo Start menu and click on All Programs. Navigate to the Startup folder.
2. Right click each item in the Startup folder and choose Delete.

2. Each item that you click delete on you will be asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue.

3. When you click continue you will be presented with the windows security message again. Click Continue.

4. Repeat these steps for each item in the startup folder.
**It is safe to remove all the items here because, it you need them – just go to their respective icon and open them. Again, you don’t need windows to load all these items for you when you start your computer.
If you are still seeing a lot of programs loading when you start your computer, there is another place you can check to see about getting rid of them. Microsoft provides a tool for editing items that startup when your computer does, its called msconfig. See the msconfig section under Misc Tidbits of this guide for further information.
Congratulations! You are done with this section. Please continue to the next chapter.
